Sylva Alleges Dickson Abets Crime In Bayelsa by Eustace Dunn

Less than ten days to the Bayelsa state governorship election slatted for December 5, the Sylva campaign organisation on Wednesday, November 25, accused Governor Seriake Dickson of giving refuge to wanted persons in the state and abetting crime in the guest houses located within the Government House in Yenagoa.

According to Vanguard report, the campaign organisation in a statement issued by the its spokesman, Nathan Egba, alleged that the governor was harbouring the prime suspect in the killing of an All Progressives Congress leader.
Egba bluntly rejected Governor Dickson’s claim of running a government with zero tolerance for criminality.
The campaign spokesman said: “We have it on good authority that not only are wanted persons given refuge in government house Yenagoa, there are even alleged criminal activities going on in the guest houses located within the government house precinct.

“For instance, the alleged mastermind of the killing of an APC leader in Ekeremor LGA is said to be holed up in one of the guest houses there.
“Secondly, information at our disposal indicates that the Peoples Democratic Party has imported some fierce looking thugs from nearby states, who were driven into the state in Coaster buses, escorted by a detachment of Security men attached to Government House, Yenagoa.
“These thugs are to wear the police and military uniforms being sewn in the government house guest houses as we already alerted the security operatives about in an earlier press statement.

“In the light of the above, we are still calling on the security agencies to probe these allegations and get to the root of the matter in order to forestall violence and protect the integrity of the forth-coming election.

Meanwhile, Chief Andy Oputa, a key member of the Bayelsa Elders Council (BEC) has denied news making rounds in certain sections of the media that the group has endorsed the second term bid of Governor Dickson.
