UNRAVELLING THE BUHARI MYTH

When I heard that the FG paid N413bn subsidy claims to oil marketers, my first reaction was "Shuo! N413bn for subsidy? I thought this same Gen. Buhari said fuel subsidy is a fraud?" And he went ahead to pay N413bn for a fraud?
You see, one by one, the myths surrounding Buhari's pre-election beliefs are coming unravelled. Unenlightened propaganda can only endure for a season...
From the way Buhari and APC's earlier posturings have been sharply contrasted by the realities they confront in office, the Nigerian voter can learn one clear lesson: talk is cheap.
The propaganda effect of Buhari's earlier dismissal of fuel subsidy as a fraud is seen in the fact that it won him new followers and strengthened the hands of his old fanatics to go hit the media and win more votes in a false pretence at populist-radicalism. The converts to Buharism can clearly see that they've been scammed...a lot of those statements were NOT motivated by any desire for genuine change but just to win power, nothing else.
Just imagine how sweet it must have sounded to a Buharista ear last year: "Buhari dismisses fuel subsidy as fraud and corruption". His supporters would have gone into a quoting frenzy very much similar to a piranha attack on our better reasoning. Today, the same man is paying subsidy for fraud and corruption. Big sigh.
Today, truth is hitting Buhari from all angles and we who are guilty of over-expectation are grinding our teeth in disappointment.
When will 'we the people' learn to think for ourselves? So sad.
