On Friday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja invalidated
last March’s Rivers State Senatorial election of Olaka Nwogu of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Rivers State South East Senatorial
District.
The ruling followed a petition filed by Magnus Abe, the contestant of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
By the ruling, the Court of Appeal set aside the judgement of the election tribunal, which had ruled for the election of Mr. Nwogu.
The court directed the electoral commission to conduct a fresh election in the Senatorial District within 60 days
