Buhari sacks NDDC Board, appoints Semenitari as MD

President Muhamadu Buhari has dissolved the
Board of the Niger Delta Development
Commission and fired the Managing Director of
the commission, Bassey Dan-Abia.
The President named the immediate past
commissioner of Information in Rivers State, Mrs.
Ibim Semenitari, as the Acting Managing Director
of the commission.
A statement said, “President Muhammadu Buhari
has named Mrs. Ibim Semenitari the new
Managing Director, Niger Delta Development
Commission, NDDC. However, Semenitari is to
function in acting capacity pending the
appointment of a substantive MD.
“Semenitari, an award-winner journalist and
media manager, had served in the
Communications Directorate of the Buhari
Presidential Campaign Organisation during the
2015 presidential election.”
Semenitari served as Commissioner of
Information and Communications in Rivers State
under the administration of Rotimi Amaechi.
A series of corruption allegations had been
levelled against the Board of the NDDC,
especially as it concerned abandoned projects
across the Niger Delta region
