''...So there
was this Biafran protest in Onitsha where the Onitsha central mosque is
purportedly burnt down by the Biafran protesters...... Then U have
people from the south West instigating the Hausa northerners to
retaliate and kill all the Igbos in their vicinity in the
north.......... Surprisingly mesmerizing is the response of most of the
Hausa northerners which was mostly to the part of caution and reason.
So let it be known that the central mosque is still there intact safe for the shanty shops besides it.
Some southwesterners can be really funny really, Gowon, my kinsman who
led the Nigerian troops then and fought the Biafran is the most
remorseful and always envisioned equity and fair treatment of the Igbos
beginning from his 3Rs immediately after the war. It was a westerner who
against the instruction of Gowon to replace the economic status of the
Igbos only gave them 20 shillings each no matter their wealth prior to
the war. Yet they rose through thick and thin to their present economic
vantage point........ These are surely not some people to ignore in the
scheme of things in Nigeria.
I still maintain that the agitations
of the Igbo people is valid and a reflection of the agitation of the
many tribes of the middle belt. Nigerians must sit, talk and negotiate
this contraption ....... Anything besides this would amount to running
in circles.... Those Igbo-hate mongers had better take a queue from
Gowon if we are all one Nigeria.....
