17-year-old arrested for traffic robbery
The police in Lagos State have arrested a 17-
year-old, Ibrahim Taiwo, while allegedly robbing a
tricycle driver in the Iddo area of the state.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the teenager was
nabbed by operatives of the Rapid Response
Squad around 8pm on Saturday.
Our correspondent gathered that Taiwo and an
accomplice, identified only as Abdullahi, who is
at large, attempted to rob the driver, identified
as Okeke.
It was learnt that the duo had allegedly used a
jackknife to dispossess the victim of two mobile
phones, money and other valuables, before the
police arrested the teenager.
Taiwo, however, denied the robbery, saying it
was his runaway friend who robbed and dropped
the jackknife beside him.
He said, “I was going to take the tricycle to
Oyingbo, when I heard the shout of ‘thief, thief.’ I
saw Abdullahi drop handsets and a jackknife.
That was how the police arrested me.
“I know where Abdullah lives. He is the one that
put me in this problem. I had only followed him
to Iddo.”
