Some governors won’t be able to pay salaries,
three months from now – Masari
The Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello
Masari has lamented that some state
governments in the country may find it difficult to
pay workers salaries in the next three to six
months should the current crash of oil prices in
the global market continue.
This was as he pointed out that the price of
crude oil, which is the major source of Nigeria’s
foreign earnings, has dropped drastically in the
last few months.
Masari made this assertion at the foundation
laying ceremony for construction of three blocks
of 12 classrooms, office block and a computer
centre at Kadandani Community Secondary
School in Rimi Local Government Area of the
state by Continental Computers.
“In three to six months time, some states will
find it difficult to pay salaries due to fall in the
price of oil in the market,” he stated in Hausa
language.
The Governor further blamed the past 16-year
rule of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a
contributory factor to the cash crunch of most
state governments.
He re-affirmed that he would not squander the
state’s resources as part of his administration’s
efforts to ensure Katsina treasury would not be
in a terrible situation.
Masari went on to disclose that arrangements
have been concluded to set up a Commission of
Inquiry for the recovery of N47,111,700,611 from
fraudulent officials of previous administrations in
the state.........
