Hundreds have paid tribute to two friends killed in a horrific car crash just a few hours into New Year’s Day.
The pair, named by friends as Sagar Chadha and Amin Ahmadi, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their vehicle collided with a tree on Grandstand Road, in Newcastle, at around 4.10am.
Two other men were also taken to hospital with serious injuries after the incident, reports the Chronicle.
Devastated friends have set up a memorial page on Facebook for the two Newcastle men and a tribute video posted to the group has been viewed almost 2,000 times.

Sagar, 30, originally from Delhi, India became a popular figure around the city after moving to the North East almost a decade ago.
Close friend Ruhel Miah said that the community has been “stunned” by his death.

Ruhel, who has been working with other friends and the High Commissioner of India to help get Sagar’s body flown back to his native India for burial, said: “He was more than a friend, he was a brother to me and the community.

“We have known each other for many years, he was one of the best people you could ever meet.
“If you were ever annoyed at him all he had to do was smile and you would forget it.
"No matter how busy he was, if he ever saw you out and about he would come over, shake your hand and ask how you were.”
He added: “Everyone is devastated, it doesn’t feel real at the moment. I keep expecting him to call.”
Majid Latif, secretary at Cowgate Cricket Club where Sagar was captain for a number of years, also paid tribute.

He said: “Sagar was a very happy man, no one ever had a bad word to say about him. He will be sorely missed.”
Amit Mehndiratta paid tribute on Facebook.
He said: “Rest in peace Sagar. You were a gem of a person and true brother.”

Natly Powton added: “To my dear and long time friend Sagar. Wish I could give you a cuddle and thank you for all you’ve done and the person you’ve been to all of us.

“Don’t think I’ve ever met as much of a kind hearted person as you, words will never be enough to describe how lovely you were and how much you were loved in return.”

Mozza Khan paid tribute to Amin Ahmadi, known as Mo, saying that the young lad had “his whole life ahead of him”.
He commented: “Rest in peace Amin you were so young, you had your whole life ahead of you, all this has made me realise life’s too short. Missing you.”
Jessica Davison added: “Rest in paradise Sagar and Mo. You’d both will be a massive miss to everyone.

"You got taken away far to soon and I still can’t get my head around it! I went to put some flowers down and I broke down.”
The cause of the crash is not yet known. Officers closed the road temporarily and scoured the area for clues, but no further statement has been made.
