Tragedy struck in the early hours of Tuesday in Akobo area of Ibadan,
the Oyo State capital as a 38-year-old man, Lowo Oyediran Ajanaku, was
stabbed to death by his wife, Yewande Oyediran (Nee Fatoki).
The woman is said to be a lawyer and a staffer of the Directorate of
Public Prosecution in the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, Ibadan.
The AUTHORITY gathered that there was a domestic dispute between the
deceased and his wife which degenerated into a heated argument and a
squabble during which the angry wife stabbed her husband on the
shoulder.
It was also learnt that the victim had gone to the hospital to be treated from the wound on the right shoulder.
Thereafter, he went home to sleep. But, in the early hours of Tuesday
while he was still in bed due to the effect of the drugs he had taken,
his wife reportedly slaughtered him and locked the door, refusing to
call for help and ignoring his weak pleas for help.
After a while, his embittered wife called on the landlady who upon
response saw him in the pool of his own blood before he died a few
minutes after.
The lady is said to be on the run while the police have not commented on the matter.
Her family was quoted as saying that the fleeing woman is mentally unstable.
Sources close to the family alleged that Yewande had claimed innocent of the incident.
The corpse of the late husband has been deposited at the Bemby Special Hospital (beside Mr. Biggs after the police station).
The family has however accused the hospital management of not allowing them to see the corpse of their son.
