Shot Putter Stephen Mozia has made some slight improvement on the national record he set earlier in the year.
Mozia, heaved 21.11m at the Vanderbilt invitational in Nashville last
weekend to erase the 21.03m he also did in Nashville on January 16.
This is just as the Athletics Federation of Nigeria is preparing for the
IAAF indoor championships billed for March 17-20 in Portland, Oregon
USA. The youngster is expected to test his might with world’s best at
the meet. His throw leads the world top ten list ahead of the
championships.
AFN president, Solomon Ogba disclosed yesterday that Nigeria will be
represented at meet, where the country has made some impacts.
“At the moment we are drawing a functionary list of athletes that could represent Nigeria in Portland.
“Our preparations are on course, we have athletes in camp in Port
Harcourt and others are training in abroad. Hopefully we are going to
get our season off the ground on a good note,” He said.
