The police arresting the thief at the IDP camp
A greedy worker has been caught red-handed stealing foodstuffs
meant for the Internally Displaced Persons in Borno State. According to
reports, the man was arrested by the Independent Taskforce on Monitoring
of Feeding of IDPs in Maiduguri, Borno state and foodstuff meant for
the IDPs were found in his car.
The thief was a storekeeper in the Arabic Teachers College (ATC)
IDP camp, was caught as he attempted to smuggle them out of the camp.

It was gathered that when members of the Taskforce interrogated
him, he said he was a staff of Askira Uba LGA and Sulaiman Abba by name.
Two ( 2) bags of rice, one (1) bag of flour and two (2) bags of sugar
(25kg) were found in the boot of his car. Two members of the Civilian
JTF in the camp who assisted in the arrest said Sulaiman Abba had been
indulging in the act for quite some time now, stealing their foodstuffs
on a daily basis.
Expressing shock and displeasure, Chairman of the Taskforce, Dr
Bulama Mali Gubio mni, said anyone stealing food meant for orphans and
vulnerable in the society especially food meant for IDPs, is no
different from an armed robber. The suspect was handed over to the
police for interrogation and prosecution.
