Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed two bills on Thursday (Feb. 18) which cut government funding from Planned Parenthood clinics.
The Washington Examiner reports that Wisconsin follows in the wake of
at least nine other states which have also cut funding to Planned
Parenthood after pro-life advocate David Daleiden released a series of
undercover videos, allegedly showing Planned Parenthood officials
negotiating over the sale of fetal body parts obtained through
abortions.
The two new Wisconsin laws restrict Planned Parenthood clinics from receiving federal Title X money.
Planned Parenthood operates 22 clinics in Wisconsin, three of which
provide abortions, according to its website. The abortion provider
estimated that the funding cuts will cost it $7.5 million a year.
Walker signed the bills at Life’s Connection, a clinic in Waukesha that
offers options other than abortion for women dealing with unwanted
pregnancies.
"Today, we signed two bills into law that prioritize women's health
while improving government and its services to the citizens of
Wisconsin," Walker said.
