Super Tuesday results are in, with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton
coming out as the big winners. Republican candidate Trump succeeded to
win seven states across the country, including Alabama, Arkansas,
Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Clinton also
won seven states on the Democratic side.
Republican Ted Cruz scored a victory in his home state of Texas, as
well as Oklahoma and Alaska. Marco Rubio won Minnesota for the
Republican party.
CNN
projects that Trump won 233 delegates on Super Tuesday, giving him a
total of 315 delegates in the race. Cruz and Rubio trail the billionaire
with 205 delegates and 106 delegates, respectively. 1,237 delegates are
needed to win the Republican nomination.
Cruz and Rubio now appear to be in a stalemate to determine who will
exit the race to have a chance to beat the anti-establishment Trump.
Cruz and Rubio are currently splitting the establishment voters, which
benefits Trump.
Cruz has suggested that Rubio “prayerfully” consider dropping out of
the race, claiming that his victories in Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska, and
the Iowa caucuses show promise of defeating Trump.
"I am the only candidate who has beaten Donald three times," Cruz said.
