Nigerian blogger, Angie Nwandu
Angie Nwandu is one Nigerian making waves abroad. The blogger known
for one of the most prominent Instagram gossip accounts has now been
named in the list of 30 Most Influential People on the Internet along
with others like Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West etc.
Angie was born in Nigerian before her parents emigrated to the United States in the 80s.
The woman who suffered abuse as a youth and lost her mother through
a violent circumstance triumphed against all odds to be important in
the society. Angie is popular for creating the popular celebrity
Instagram handle @TheShadeRoom providing juicy all round celebrity
stories.
She has now founded a young but fast growing media company The
Shade Room. The 25-year-old Los Angeles based Nigerian American gossip
blogger “might be the first media mogul of the distributed content age” as the New York Times called The Shade Room “Instagram’s TMZ.”
Angie started her media company accidentally without any knowledge
in media or journalism. When she was out of work in March 2014, Angie
started writing and found Instagram as an outlet for showcasing her
talent. That was when she discovered @TheShadeRoom for updating gossips
and celebrity news. Within two weeks, her posts had attracted 10,000
followers.
Angie is growing from strength to strength as she adds yet another
feather to her cap. The emergence of her Instagram page as a round-table
platform for discussion has shaped so many lives.
She has now employed four full-time employees and has advertisers supporting her with 3.9 million followers on Instagram.
Angie lives in the United States with her family.
