Pastor Who Protested at Trump Rally Says He Has Been Receiving Death Threats

 

 

A Chicago pastor who protested at a Donald Trump rally says he has been receiving death threats.

 

The Christian Post reports that Jedidiah Brown, an African-American pastor and community organizer, stormed the stage at a Trump rally at the University of Illinois. 

 

“As a proud Chicago citizen, I wanted to project a different message which was that America is already great without hate," said Brown in an interview with The Christian Post.

 

Brown explained that he stormed the stage because he felt like the atmosphere of the rally was “a racially charged and dangerous environment.”

 

The rally erupted into chaos after Brown stormed the stage. Heated exchanges between protesters and Trump supporters escalated into physical violence in some cases. 

 

Trump eventually cancelled the event due to the chaos.

 

"My life has changed significantly since that night," said Brown. "I've got emails, phone calls, Facebook messages, definitely. They've called the line of our organization, the Young Leaders Alliance, I think that number is published on something."

 

Many have since expressed concern over violence at Trump rallies. Trump seemed to blame the violence on the protesters, stating, “We have some protesters who are bad dudes. They have done bad things. They are swinging, they are really dangerous and they get in there and they start hitting people."

 

When asked which presidential candidate he supports, Brown said he favored Sen. Bernie Sanders because "I loved how he was always willing to address the plight of black life. The quality of black life in America. He's willing to address Wall Street and of course the prison population. More than anything,” continued Brown, “I love how he has vision. When he speaks he paints a picture of an America that's going to finally work for all Americans."
