S*x-obsessed footballer Adam Johnson satisfied his depraved desires
by watching porn videos on a website called Nice Young Teens.
And he fed his addiction by regularly stopping off on his way home from training to have s*x with a variety of women.
Millionaire Johnson also had outdoor s*x sessions across the bonnet of his £80,000 Range Rover with fans he barely knew.
After his arrest for abusing a girl of 15, police even discovered bestiality videos on his computer.
The full extent of his revolting behaviour was revealed yesterday
for the first time as Johnson was jailed for six years for sexual
activity with the girl and grooming. The damning details had been kept
from the jury during his trial.
The 28-year-old Sunderland and England winger is also believed to have contracted two sexually transmitted diseases.
Prosecutor Kate Blackwell QC said there were pictures on his phone of an “infected penis”.
Messages between him and girlfriend Stacey Flounders and internet searches suggested he had looked for information about STDs.
While Stacey, 26, was caring for their new-born daughter, Johnson
was sexting his 15-year-old victim and at least four other women.
When baby Ayla was seven weeks old Johnson messaged a woman called
Rosie to arrange to meet in a secluded location. He made it clear in the
candid exchanges he wanted to have s*x with her on his luxury motor’s
bonnet.
Johnson groomed his teenage victim for more than a month, swapping more than 800 messages before meeting her.
They engaged in sexual activity three weeks after his daughter was born.
Bradford crown court was yesterday told that medical experts said Johnson was a sex addict with an out-of-control libido.
But Judge Jonathan Rose told him that nothing could excuse the way he had preyed on a vulnerable young girl.
The judge said: “She was the holder of a season ticket and would attend every home game. You were her favourite player. She had a crush on you.
“Your intention was to engage in sexual intercourse with her.
“You said to a psychiatrist, ‘I put her age out of my mind. I
was sexually interested but she was just another girl, another
opportunity’.
“It is quite clear that the events took place at a time when
you were engaging frequently in sexual intercourse with multiple
partners.
“You used your professional status to obtain partners for your sexual gratification.”
Judge Rose said Johnson had put his young victim through hell. He added: “You lied about the nature and extent of your contact with her and you lied about the level of your sexual activity with her.
“You had every opportunity to enter guilty pleas but you chose not to do so.
“One consequence of that is that she was regarded as a liar, by
her peers and by the football supporters who would chant abuse about
her.”
Police and campaigners welcomed the sentence.
Detective Inspector Aelfwynn Sampson said: “This is a significant sentence which sends out a clear message.
“Fame, celebrity and a position of power does not give you the right to break the law in pursuit of whatever you desire.”
The NSPCC said Johnson should never have been allowed to continue playing for Sunderland after he was charged.
It added: “It highlighted a perverse sense of priorities at the top level of the club.
“It was worrying that child safeguarding took second place to
getting results on the pitch. That can never be allowed to happen
again.”
Johnson arrived for the hearing yesterday in a designer suit — sprinting into court in an effort to avoid photographers.
But after sentencing he reappeared in the dock in a grey prison-issue sweatshirt and jogging bottoms.
Johnson’s parents David, 55, and Sonia, 51, were in court yesterday
for the sentencing. It was the first time Sonia had attended.
Ex-mechanic David has been there for every day of the trial and showed unwavering faith in his son’s innocence.
The court was told David said in a statement he could not believe his son had been “sucked into this situation”.
He and his wife live close to their son in Castle Eden, Co Durham. Stacey was not in court yesterday.
She attended the early part of the trial and gave evidence on the
£60,000-a-week star’s behalf, revealing she had ended their
relationship.
Ms Blackwell told the court those close to Johnson were responsible
for some of the online abuse his victim has received from trolls.
She said: “The girl has suffered threats to identify her. Those
closest to the defendant have repeatedly and doggedly not only provided
the platform for abuse but openly encouraged such behaviour.”
The parents of the victim yesterday said in a statement that their family had endured “heartache, criticism and slanderous remarks”.
Her mum said: “I still believe that it was the right decision
to report this matter to police so as to protect other young vulnerable
children.
“Adam Johnson was in a privileged position of trust with
hundreds of other idolising young fans who could have just as easily
been victims themselves.
“It has been almost impossible for me to put into words just
how devastating the whole situation has been — and continues to be — for
my daughter.
“The impact on her has been enormous with so many aspects of
her life being affected — her childhood, her schooling, her social life
and self-esteem.
“Her father and I would like to say how proud of our daughter we are due to her strength.”
Johnson is appealing against conviction.
