A pastor seeking to end the transgender bathroom debate has proposed a new restroom plan he says will accommodate everyone.
According to ChristianToday.com, Pastor Ryan Phipps of the Forefront
Church in New York city stated, "I've had about as much as I can take of
the 'anti-transgender-people-in-bathrooms' discussion.”
Phipps says that Christians should be leading the discussion and
providing solutions on issues such as this, and that is why he has come
up with a plan for a new restroom system he says will make everyone
happy.
Under Phipps’s new proposal, restrooms would have completely separate
stalls, each with its own toilet, sink, mirror, trash can, hand dryer,
and diaper changing station.
People of both genders will use the same facilities, but each stall
will provide greater privacy. Also, security cameras will monitor people
walking in and out of the restroom, but will not record within the
individual stalls.
"By making one bathroom that all people can use, available space is
doubled by the elimination of the other gender-separated space. In
addition, eliminating the sinks outside the stalls creates space for
them inside each stall," Phipps explains.
Phipps hopes that people can stop arguing over this issue and instead
heed the Apostle Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 10:5: “We demolish
arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge
of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to
Christ.”
"Are you doing this?" Phipps asks. "Are you demolishing arguments and
pretension that keep people from knowing God? Are you taking your
thoughts captive to the way of Jesus, who didn't turn people away, but
who found a way to welcome them?"
