An angry mob has caught and beaten to death a notorious armed
robber terrorising Shango, a suburb of Minna, the Niger State Capital on
Thursday.
It was gathered that the 30 years old armed robber who was
identified as Ali was said to have been caught during one of his
operations. He was tied to a pole and beaten to death.
His corpse was later found in the morning as police took it away. A resident of the area while speaking to newsmen stated: “We
saw his body tied to the pole early in the morning, when we came to
pray at 5:30am. We can now sleep peacefully with our eyes at least
closed. This Ali has been a problem to us for some time now, now we can
rest from his activities with his gang.”
The police public Relation Officer, Bala Elkana confirmed the incident. He said: “The
Police discovered those that master minded the killing of the notorious
armed robber during a house to house investigation. As I am talking to
you, we have been able to ascertain who the ring leader is. It is a case
of homicide and the Police is presently after them. Even though, it is a
case of armed robbery, nobody is allowed to take laws into his or her
hand, it should be left for the law enforcement agency.”
