A churchgoer in Philadelphia will stand trial after being accused of shooting and killing a fellow church member.
The Associated Press reports that Mark Storms, 46, who attends a church
in North Wales in suburban Philadelphia, has been ordered to stand
trial in July for shooting and killing 27-year-old Robert Braxton.
The sanctuary of Keystone Fellowship Church was reportedly packed with worshippers at the time of the shooting, according to NBCPhiladelphia.com.
The conflict between Storms and Braxton reportedly began with Braxton
entering the church in an irritated mood, cursing at church members.
Storms confronted Braxton for being verbally disruptive, warning
Braxton that he had a concealed weapons permit and was carrying a
handgun. According to court documents, Braxton then punched Storms, who
responded by shooting Braxton twice, killing him.
A judge ordered Storms’ bail to be set at $250,000. Storms’ defense
attorney, Vincent DiFabio, says he will argue that Storms killed Braxton
out of self-defense.
