Suraju Adeyemi, a truck driver in Lagos killed his conductor, identified only as Jelili, in the Alakuko area of the state.
The man has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly commiting the act.
According to Punch Metro, the deceased had hung onto the body of the truck without the knowledge of the driver.
While the suspect was about to make a U-turn, the victim reportedly
fell on the ground and he was crushed by the vehicle’s tyres.
Jelili reportedly died on the spot, and his remains were deposited at the Onipanu General Hospital, Ota, Ogun State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, who
confirmed the death, said policemen from the Ikotun division towed the
vehicle to their station.
Dolapo, a Superintendent of Police, added that investigations were ongoing.
She said, “There was a fatal accident at the Ayedun Field,
along AIT Road, Alagbado, at about 2.30pm on Saturday. It was the truck
driver that reported himself to the police after the incident.
“According to him, the conductor, Jelili, was killed after
falling off the truck while he (the driver) was making a U-turn. He said
the tyres climbed his conductor’s head and he died.”
