Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha
It is fear and panic in Imo State after a voice message in
circulation in various online platforms has warned residents of Owerri
of a planned terror attack on named locations in the city between the
end of July and first week of August.
According to NewTelegraph,
the recording pointed out various locations in the state capital
warning that bombs have been planted in some of these locations waiting
for detonation.
Some of the places mentioned include World Banks road, Ama Hausa, Relief Market and Douglas Road.
In the recording, it was alleged that some of the arms are located
inside the Mosque next to the Imo Government House, it also called on
residents to rise up in protest and demand police search of the mosque.
Consequently, the recording has become subject of small talks in
Owerri while relatives within and outside the state are sending the
voice recording to loved ones to alert them.
However, the Governor Rochas Okorocha through his spokesman has described the audio message as being politically motivated.
Some have dismissed the message as another distraction by the
opposition party to destabilize the state. The police are now on high
alert in case of any trouble.
