The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has arraigned a
15-year-old boy, Uchenna Akoma, on Tuesday before Justice Babs Kuewumi
of the Federal High Court in Lagos state, for allegedly peddling Indian
hemp.
Akoma who confessed to taking two wraps of marijuana on a daily
basis, was apprehended by the NDLEA for dealing in marijuana without
lawful authority after he was caught with 100 grammes of cannabis
sativa, 200g of marijuana as wells as 400g of marijuana.
Justice Kuewumi, before his ruling, told everyone present, except
the prosecuting counsel for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and
other lawyers, to vacate the courtroom.
The minor, Akoma pleaded guilty to the one count charge and was remanded in prison custody.
The judge adjourned the case till September for further hearing,
ordering the prosecutor to review the facts of the case after which the
accused may be sentenced to prison.
