The attacker being arrested by Italian Police
News went viral few days ago that a Nigerian asylum seeker
identified as Emmanuel Chidi Nnamdi was attacked in the small town of
Fermo in Italy after coming to his wife’s defence.
Nnamdi was attacked with a steel bar after he stepped in to defend
his wife against a racial slur, and ended up in a coma and finally died
on Wednesday.

The man's wife, Chinyere told police that her husband was beaten
unconscious by the man who was wielding a road-sign pole. It has now
been reported that the attacker identified as Amedeo Mancini has been
arrested by the officials of the Italian Police.
Interior Minister, Angelino Alfano attended a security meeting in
Fermo on Thursday, after which he announced that Chinyere would be
granted refugee status.
The couple had been living in the area for eight months and were
lodged in a shelter run by Catholic charity Caritas. Chinyere has been
moved to another centre.
