The five armed-robbers who fell to the superior power of the SARS operatives
Five notorious armed robbers have been shot dead during a deadly
gun battle with operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in
Anambra State. The female leader of the robbery gang was also shot dead
during the encounter.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Hosea-Hassan Karma,
revealed that the operation lasted all through the night on Monday till
the early hours of Tuesday when some of the criminals fell to the
superior fire power of the police while some of them still escaped.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ali
Okechukwu, the dead armed robbery suspects were gunned down by the
police during a fierce gun battle when the SARS operatives were trailing
them following a tip off from an arrested robbery kingpin.
The deceased female suspect was said to be the commander of the
gang while their area of specialization included car snatching, armed
robbery and kidnapping.
One of the victims narrated her ordeal in their hands.
Also paraded was an unfortunate young girl from Akwa Ibom who
visited her supposed three months old Facebook boyfriend who unknown to
her was one of the armed robbery suspects, now at large.
She was also hit by bullets during the gun duel but has been taken
to the hospital for treatment. Recovered from the criminal suspects were
sophisticated weapons, charms and several stolen vehicles.
