The Toyota car involved in the fatal accident
A horrific accident has seen three family members and another
person die in a fatal road accident caused by over-speeding. The
accident left four others seriously injured.
According to The Herald Zimbabwe,
the vehicle was on high speed before it overturned last Thursday along
the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road in Zimbabwe. The accident occurred at
the 393km peg at around 5am. Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant
Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the accident.
She said the deceased have been identified as Noel Chiruva (49),
Vongai Chiruva (age not given), Ruvarashe Chiruva (5) all of No. 611
Nguhuma Crescent, Victoria Falls and Mazenzela Nyakumbi (49) of
Aerodrome, Victoria Falls.
“The driver of a Toyota Granvia, who had seven passengers on
board and was speeding failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of
the vehicle.
“The vehicle overturned and landed on its right side, killing people on the spot,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.
She said four people including the driver were injured and were
admitted at Victoria Falls Hospital while the bodies of the deceased
were ferried to the hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with the loss of
lives through reckless drivers. Drivers are urged to avoid travelling at
night and speeding when visibility is poor,” she said.
