Gov. Ayo Fayose
In an official statement by Lere Olayinka, the Ekiti State
Governor's media aide, Gov. Ayodele Fayose has said he was blocked from
attending the PDP national convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on
Wednesday by security operatives that blocked the gate to the
Presidential lodge in Rivers state Government House, where he lodged
with an armoured personnel career.
According to a report by Vanguard,
the media aide said the governor who was conspicuously absent at the
convention which was eventually held at the state secretariat of the
party after security agencies had sealed off the initial venue, was
prevented from moving out as the gate to the Old Presidential Lodge was
blocked by an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
The governor's special adviser, Lere Olayinka, who said that all
appeals to the security personnel at the gate to allow the governor go
out to attend the convention were ignored, disclosed that all entreaties
to allow Fayose to step out to attend the convention were rebuffed by
the security personnel on ground.
However, when contacted for comment, the state Police Commissioner, Francis Odesanya said it was not true. ”That cant be true . It is not to my knowledge. How did the other Excellencies( governors) go out of their lodge “, he said.
