Mayowa Ahmed, the cancer patient Nigerians raised money to save is dead. She died this afternoon August 21st in a hospital in South Africa after battling Ovarian cancer for a while. 

 

 

The woman was flown to South Africa on August 11th for medical treatment after Nigerians raised millions to save her life. This news will come as a shock to her friends and well wishers who would have loved to see her survive the ordeal following a web of controversies that surrounded the raising of funds for her treatment.

 

 

It would be recalled that blogger, Linda Ikeji had alleged that the money raised for Mayowa's treatment had been diverted for fraudulent purposes by the family after a popular Yoruba actress Toyin Aimakhu had raised the alarm on social media.

 

 Linda later apologized for the false allegations against the family following the controversy which many believe may have contributed to her early demise
