Doctors battled for five hours to save the man's life
An Indian man has shockingly escaped death after swallowing 40
metal knives. He was saved by a team of doctors who performed a
life-saving surgery to redeem his condition.
According to Dailymail,
Jarnail Singh, 42, was admitted to The Corporate Hospital in Gurdaspur,
India, a few days ago with complaints of abdomen pain and weakness.
A team of surgeons were astonished when they discovered he had
swallowed not one, not two, but 40 knives over the last two months
because he liked the way they tasted.
One of the five surgeons who saved the man's life, Dr Jitinder
Malhotra, branded it as the most dreadful surgery he had seen in the
last 20 years of practicing.
He said: 'When we began diagnosis, we found the cause of the
pain puzzling. We did an ultrasound, which revealed some solid mass in
his stomach, shaped like cancer.
'The patient then told us he had an uncontrollable urge to eat
knives. What is astonishing is that he had been eating knives since the
past two months.
'This was very unnerving, I have not witnessed something like this in my career as a doctor.'
The man's life was saved after five hours of surgery. He will be discharged from hospital in the next few days.
