International megastar Beyoncé has openly shown her appreciation to God during her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
International megastar Beyoncé has openly shown her appreciation to God during her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The
singer performed a selection of songs from her new album Lemonade in
Madison Square Garden and displayed a number of Christian symbols on
stage.
The album explores the concepts of betrayal and loss and
her music videos for the album shows religious symbolism such as her
holding the Bible.
Songs also have lyrics relating to God, such as Pray You Catch Me.
During a rendition of Don't Hurt Yourself, Beyoncé stopped and said: "When you love me, you love yourself. Love God herself".
The words "God is God, I am not" flashed across the screen.

In 2014 Beyoncé also stood in front of a stage with the word Feminist created from lights.
