A United States' military fighter aircraft, believed to be a AV8B
Harrier II jet, has reportedly crashed into the sea off the coast of
Japan after taking off from a major Air Force base on the southern
Japanese island of Okinawa.
According to Dailymail, a member of aircraft's crew has been rescued, as it still unclear how
many people were on board - the jet is a single-pilot plane but the
training version has two seats.
The 11th Regional Coast Guard are searching for the plane, with a
helicopter and patrol boat, at the crash site, 150 kilometers east of
Kunigami district.
The US Air Force is currently stationed at Kadena Air Base on the island of Okinawa as search continues.
This is a developing story, we'll be bringing you more updates as soon as possible.
