The Nasarawa State Police Command has reportedly deployed scores of
security operatives around a sign of a cross which appeared some days
ago about five feet away from the Assakio Central Mosque in the Assakio
development area of Lafia LGA of the state in a bid to prevent any
crisis that the cross’ presence might generate.
According to a reports gathered online, the appearance of a
crucifix (cross) - which is the considered the symbol of Christianity -
in the vicinity of the mosque left the people in awe as it illuminated
on the ground close to the mosque.
It was gathered that the venue has attracted Christians from far
and wide, as thousands of people, from the area and neighboring places,
including the sick, have thronged the venue, where they pray for
forgiveness and healing.
A resident of the area identified as Hajara Hussaini, confirmed
that she was the first to see the light in the shape of a cross on
Wednesday, September 28 when her mother sent her on errand. Her mother,
Matan Liman also confirmed the strange appearance and said her daughter
was gripped in fear when she returned.
Also speaking, the paramount ruler of Assakio, His Royal Highness,
Osula Inarigu, urged his people to embrace one another, irrespective of
their religious disposition.
The Makungujin Assakio, Sabo Atoshi who spoke on behalf of the
traditional ruler, explained that the appearance of the cross is a sign
of good things to happen to the people of Assakio.
However, a correspondent who visited the area, observed that the image of the cross is gradually fading off.
