An Indian identified only as Rajbir, has been arrested by the police.
The man was arrested after he killed his 45-year-old wife, Roshni,
by stabbing her in the heart at their house in southwest Delhi's
Jaffarpur Kalan on Wednesday evening. Rajbir reportedly killed his wife
over an argument they were having about their finances. He was said to
be drunk at the time.
After committing the brutal act, the man then went to his elder
brother and confessed to having committed the crime after which he was
handed over to the police.
The Times of India reports that around 7.21pm, Roshni, who was an
employee of a government dispensary, was attacked by her drunk husband
who is currently unemployed.
The couple's son had gone out to play with his friends when Rajbir attacked Roshni.
"The couple got into an argument over Rajbir being unemployed
and the family facing a financial crunch.Soon the argument turned ugly
and the agitated husband took a kitchen knife and stabbed Roshni in the
chest puncturing her heart. She died on the spot.
"Rajbir then went to his elder brot her's house and confessed
to having murdered Roshni. His brother then thrashed him and called up
the police," said a police officer.
A police team went to Rajbir's house and found Roshni lying in a
pool of blood. They took her to Rao Tula Ram hospital where she was
declared dead. Her body has been sent for autopsy. A crime and forensics
team also visited the house to collect samples.
DCP (southwest) Surender Kumar said that a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) has been registered.
The couple have three daughters, all married, and one son.
Relatives and neighbours told the police that the couple often fought over their finances.
