Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta

A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, granted embattled Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta bail in the sum of N100 million.

Ngwuta was earlier in the day, arraigned on 16 counts, including money laundering and offences relating to obtaining of multiple passport.

He was granted bail by self-recognisance in his capacity as a serving Justice of the Supreme Court.

The prosecutor had argued against the bail citing how the Judge had instructed a witness to remove N27 million hidden in his bathroom and exotic cars in his compound after he was granted administrative bail following his arrest by the Department of State Security Service.

Justice Tsoho, in his ruling on ‎the defendant’s bail application noted that the fears expressed by the prosecution about granting bail to the defenant were unfounded.

He therefore granted Ngwuta bail in the sum of N100 million.
