It's
a shocking thing as Nigerians lament over the outrageous school fees
being charged by a church-owned university in Nigeria.

The shocking amount being paid by students of Convenant University,
has left many people in great shock. The amount posted on the school's website
has left many Nigerians blasting the Pastor, David O. Oyedepo, who is
the Chancellor of both Covenant University and Landmark University.
Many have accused him of using his church members to make money and
live a luxury life while the members languish in poverty. Oyedepo was
named in 2011 by Forbes magazine as being the richest pastor in Nigeria.
He is the founder and presiding Bishop of the megachurch Faith
Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria, and Living Faith Church
Worldwide, also known as Winners' Chapel.
Following the criticism that trailed the recent revelation, he
flayed at those criticizing the school fees charged by Covenant
University to desist from it to avoid incurring the wrath of God.
He told them the story of one critic who had developed a strange
plague of chronic mouth odour for criticizing him as the person only
received a spiritual solution following his confession and “my intervention before he was restored to dignity”.

Bishop Oyedepo stated that the issue of school fees paid by
students of the university was a godly agenda to meet the demands of
raising godly children in an environment conducive for learning.
He said such criticisms were products of ignorance as what students
pay could not be compared with what obtained elsewhere that lacked
facilities. According to him, “The school fees has Gods approval and
is in accordance with the quality of facilities provided by the
university in meeting the educational needs of the nation.”
People have continued to blast him for allegedly ripping his church
members dry while he enjoys a life of luxury on earth and charge
outrageous amounts as school fees.
According to reports, Oyedepo is the wealthiest preacher in Nigeria
with a net worth of over USD $150 million. The church owns four private
jets and several buildings around the world, including London and the
United States. Oyedepo is an author and publisher who has written over
70 titles apart from periodicals.
He is the Chairman/Publisher of Dominion Publishing House (DPH), a
publishing arm of the ministry. DPH has over 4 million prints in
circulation to date.
Through Oyedepo Covenant University, Faith Academy and Kingdom
Heritage Schools have been established to equip the youth for global
impact.
The construction of a third university named Crown University is already underway, located in Calabar, Cross Rivers, Nigeria.
