A
young boy has shocked many people with his unbelievably brazen move
after mistaking his girlfriend's cousin for a love rival.

A 17-year-old boy has caused some stir in a Kenyan community after
he savagely attacked and stabbed a man he found talking to his
girlfriend on suspicion that he was his rival.
According to SDE, while having an evening pep talk with
his teenage cousin, 30-year old Wesley Bett was viciously attacked and
stabbed with a kitchen knife by the assailant (name withheld), a Class
Eight pupil at Kipteris primary school in Chilchila ward in Kipkelion
West constituency, Kenya.
Speaking from his hospital bed in Kericho County Referral hospital
where he had been rushed for treatment, the senior bachelor said his
young assailant attacked him after he found him speaking to the girl at
7pm on Sunday.
“I was catching up with my cousin over the day’s events and
urging her to be courageous as she faces the exams when her schoolmate
arrived on the scene and begun demanding to know the kind of
relationship I have with her. But even after I told him that she was my
cousin, the young man did not believe me,” he said.
Bett said his assailant dismissed the blood relationship he claimed he had with the girl, terming it a blatant lie.
“The boy told me he had heard rumours that I was dating his girlfriend and ‘catching’ us chatting had confirmed the rumour,” he said, adding that it was at that point that he drew out a knife and stabbed him on the chest and twice in the back.
The peasant farmer said he managed to run for his dear life for
almost 200 metres before he stopped and made a distress call to the
local chief.
“I could not take it anymore due to the excessive bleeding from
the wounds. I collapsed. Luckily, the phone call saved me since the
chief immediately called a neighbour living near the place,” he said.
It was the Good Samaritan, together with other villagers, who took
him to hospital using a motorcycle. The man said the boy’s attack came
as an ugly surprise to him since he would never have thought that anyone
could ever hurt him over his cousin.
Bett demanded stern action to be taken against his assailant.
“The boy must be punished for his crime since despite my cousin
telling him that I was her relative, he went ahead to stab me over
nothing,” he said.
Toroton location Chief Richard Koech said the suspect had since
been arrested as he attempted to flee from the law and would be
arraigned in court once the police are done with their investigations.
