There
was shock and grief in Tanzania as Mbao FC player collapsed and died in
an U-20 TFF League match against Mwadui FC on Sunday.
The collapsed player, Ismail Mrisho Khalifan being treated on the pitch before he was pronounced dead on the way to hospital
Tanzanian football club, Mbao FC U-20 player, Ismail Mrisho Khalfan
collapsed on the pitch and died while his team was playing against
Mwadui FC in the Vodacom U-20 league on Sunday at the Kaitaba stadium in
Bukoba.
The player, who has scored one of the goals for Mbao, collapsed
after a tussle with a Mwadui defender and efforts to resuscitate him
failed at the Bukoba Provincial Hospital.
TFF President, Jamal Malizni told supersport.com, “I regret to
announce the sudden death of Ismail Mrisho.He collapsed on the pitch
during an U20 league match today .He was a Mbao FC player and the game
was between his team and Mwadui U20.The TFF Medical team is following up
this sad event very closely.
"May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace.”
The player will be buried on Monday according to Islamic rites.
