Twenty seven armed bandits have reportedly pledged to stop banditry in Isa Local Government of Sokoto State.

While speaking at the 4th security stakeholders' meeting recently
held in Sokoto State, the Chairman of the Isa local government area of
the state, retired Col. Garba Moyi, disclosed that 27 armed bandits have
reportedly pledged to stop banditry in the locality.
The chairman who said that the repentant bandits had pledged to
surrender all their arms and ammunition during the next adjourned
meeting, commended them for the decision to repent from banditry.
Moyi who described it as a good development, said it would
drastically reduce the recurring cases of cattle rustling, armed robbery
and other related crimes in the state and nation. He assured them of
assistance to be productive and integrate fast into the society.
Moyi added that the council would ensure they are protected from any form of intimidation or harassment.
Also speaking, Divisional Police Officer in the area, Gazali Umar,
pledged to ensure protection the penitent bandits from any
intimidation.
