I Could've Died If Police Didn't Arrest Me - Thief Caught After Trapped Inside an Office After Stealing (Photo)

A suspected burglar has confessed how he could have died after stealing if the operatives of the Nigerian Police Station had not arrested him when he was trapped.
The suspect

Speaking while he was paraded by the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Adeleye Oyabade, in Umuahia, the state capital, a 26-year-old suspected burglar, Joseph Eke, confessed that he could have lost his life if Police officers of the Aba Central Police Station had not arrested him when he was trapped in the pool office he broke into.

According to the graduate of Mass Communication from Enugu State University, he was attracted by the huge sum of money he saw the cashier attached to the pool office count when he went to play pool.

Eke, who claimed to have been a “wheelbarrow pusher” to earn money, said; “I was attracted by the huge amount of money the cashier was counting in the office that I could not resist because I have not seen that amount of money before.

“I was trapped after the operation because I suspected that people were aware that somebody was robbing the office.

“I thank God that the police were contacted and they came and rescued me. If not, I wouldn’t have known what would have happened to me if I was caught by the mob.”

Oyebade said items recovered from the suspect included the sum of one million, six hundred and thirty five thousand, six hundred seventy five naira (N1, 635, 675.00) and one plasma television.

He stated that the suspect had confessed to the crime and would be arraigned on the completion of investigation.
