A village head in Akwa Ibom has suffered a really tragic fate after gunmen trailed him in the cool of the evening.

Chief Emmanuel Umahaeyo, the Village Head of Ikot Anta Eneng Obom
in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom,has been killed by two
gunmen suspected to be hired assassins.
Vanguard reports that Umahaeyo, who was shot twice in his compound,
Tuesday evening, by the gunmen riding on a motorcycle, died on the
spot. Umahaeyo, who assumed leadership in December 2010, was said to be
having a running battle with some youths in the village.
A villager, who did not want his name mentioned, told newsmen that
the two gunmen, who later headed to Nkek Urua Akpan Udosen, a
neighbouring village, also shot and killed two other persons at the
border, thinking they were indigenes of Ikot Anta, in an attempt to
cover up their crime.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, who confirmed the incident, said: “Investigation is ongoing. We are looking into it. That is all I can say for now.
“You cannot give out information when you are not sure. We have
to investigate that matter properly, then come out with a full story.
For now, people should go about their normal lawful businesses without
fear.”
